Examples

Example 1

Let's say you want to unscramble a word such as pplea. Here's how you'd fill out the Unscrambler options.

  • Enter Scrambled Word: pplea
  • Leave "Pattern Matching" blank
  • Leave "Find Words of any length" unchecked

Then click Unscramble Word, and 1 result (apple) should appear if you're using the default Words.txt dictionary.

Example 2

Continuing from the previous example, if you wanted to unscramble pplea, and show all words that can be derived from those letters regardless of length, then fill out the Unscrambler options like so.

  • Enter Scrambled Word: pplea
  • Leave "Pattern Matching" blank
  • Check "Find Words of any length"

Then click Unscramble Word, and 13 results will appear.

Example 3

Still continuing with this example, let's say of those 13 results, you know you want your results to start with a. Here's how you'd fill out the Unscrambler options.

  • Enter Scrambled Word: pplea
  • Pattern Matching: a*
  • Check "Find Words of any length"

Then click Unscramble Word, and 4 results will appear, all starting with the letter a.

Literati and Scrabble® letter points

The Literati and Scrabble® score feature in Unscrambler is just the value of the tiles, and does not account for bonus points since Unscrambler is not meant to track positions on the board. The point values are based off the following.
